CHARLOTTE, N.C. – At just 14 years of age, Charlotte area racer George Phillips has enjoyed a checkered season so far. He scored his third win of the 2023 Cook Out Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday evening, driving the Miller Performance Motorsports No. 55. He’s chasing his fourth pro late model win of the year this Saturday when he takes to the track in the Setzer Racing and Development No. 6 for the Carolina Pro Late Model Series race at Tri-County Speedway in Rutherfordton, N.C.

“Everyone with Miller Performance Motorsports gave me such a good car tonight,” Phillips said after the victory in race 8 of 10 of the 30th Annual Cook Out Summer Shootout. “Thank you first to the Lord for keeping me safe, and a huge thank you to the team, my sponsors, and my family for everything they do for me. I had to be a little bit patient tonight because there were so many really competitive cars. I just tried not to make any mistakes, because I knew if I lost the lead toward the end I probably wouldn’t get it back. I wanted this win badly and we got it. This is awesome!”

Next up for Phillips is the opportunity to win for the fourth time this year in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series, whose next race is this Saturday at the challenging Tri-County Speedway. Then, it will be back to Charlotte next Monday (practice) and Tuesday (racing) with the legend car as he chases that series championship as well.
