GEORGE PHILLIPS SWEEPS THE CAROLINA PRO LATE MODELS WEEKEND

Swansboro, NC (June 4th, 2023) – This weekend the Carolina Pro Late Models ran a double weekend at two different tracks. Night one set forth an amazing start to the double header weekend on Friday at New River All American Speedway in Jacksonville, North Carolina. George took his #6 Setzer Racing & Development Chevrolet to a Pole Setting fast time around the 4/10-mile oval. With a field invert, George found himself starting 4th with a little work to do to get back to the front. Dropping back to 5th, George had his hands full for the first few laps of the 100 lap feature. Keeping calm, cool and collected, Phillips moved up through the field and within 15 laps he was to the front of the field.

Once George had his Ross & Witmer machine in clean air he was on rails setting sail to a dominating performance. Half way through the event a caution would have the field bunched back up and with 46 to go. As the green dropped Phillips had an amazing restart and set sail once again and never looked back until a caution would provide for a 6 lap shootout. As the field was tight, once again a perfectly executed restart was made, sending George onto Victory Lane. “Oh man this was so much fun, most of all I want to thank God, I want to thank Setzer Racing and Development, Brandon Setzer, Dennis Setzer, Talon and Jordan for all of their work, I just can’t thank them enough,” commented Phillips in his Victory Lane interview. He continued, “I need to thank Ross & Witmer, The Racing Warehouse, Simpson Racing Products, and I want to thank my family for coming out, it’s been an amazing night. I love running here at New River All American Speedway.”

On Saturday, George was still pumped from his win yet set focus on one of his favorite tracks, Carteret County Speedway. George won the biggest race in Carteret County Speedway History, the 50 lap $2500 Race of Champions on December 10, 2022. Since then George has been ready for his Late Model debut at the 4/10 mile oval. Determination and mind set had him prepared for this run in the Carolina Pro Late Models.

Once again George found himself setting the standard and took the Pole for the second night in a row. As the event got underway a lap one mishap caused the field to change with George maintaining the top spot. After the restart George was able to get clear as the field battled it out for the second and third positions. As cautions flew throughout the event, it was a 12 lap shootout to round out the final laps. Phillips maintained the top spot and sailed onto victory for the second consecutive night. He was met in Victory Lane by his team, family and friends and was met by Basketball Legend, Dexter Williams with an exchange of water splashing to commence and celebrate the win. “I can’t thank them enough, I have to thank Setzer Racing and Development, Brandon, Dennis, Talon and Jordan for all of the work, but most of all I want to thank God.” George continued, “I have to thank my family, The Racing Warehouse, I have to thank Dexter Williams for coming out, Ross & Witmer, and Simpson Racing Products.  I am so glad to win my second Pro Late Model race here at Carteret County Speedway.”
